Junior DPS helps raise an independent toddler.

We live in an unpredictable world where anything can happen at any time. It’s our nature to protect our children from harm, but are we able to do that?

There are several methods for your child to be independent and safe. Raising an independent toddler reduces parental stress while also producing a confident adolescent. However, many parents are unsure of how to help their children become self-sufficient and independent.

As a result, the most crucial question is raised: How can we teach a child or toddler independence?

Junior DPS is here to solve your problem by providing ways to raise an independent toddler. We understand that in this new era where both parents are working in a family, the independency of a child is the need of the hour.

Being a toddlerpre-nursery is the class where these children learn independency through our best play school in India.

Now we can see that the independency of children starts at home, but the next step is their school, which is considered to be their second home.

Children learn independence by being organized and disciplined in school.

It starts from organizing your bag and books according to your timetable, polishing your shoes on your own, doing iron on your clothes, and doing your homework without help.

This thing shows that the independency of children is an evolving process. It does not come in minutes and seconds. It takes years of discipline by children and their parents as well as by their teachers also.

Being the best preschool in India, teachers play their role at their best in our school and inspire the parents as well to make their child an independent toddler.

Learning occurs very naturally during this age as toddlers connect with approachable caregivers, investigate their surroundings, and play. The human brain was designed to be a learning machine, and children at this age are developing neural connections (an elementary stage of development of a toddler’s mind) as they utilize them.

Your child’s brain physically grows as a result of the experiences and activities you give them, increasing their learning efficiency and ability.

Now the next step is to understand the parent’s role in raising an independent child –

While toddlers may play independently for a short period, parents must plan their child’s day, assign organized work, assist with the change between activities, and encourage them.

1-Make a framework-

Children, like adults, want continuity in their lives. Furthermore, continuity and routine aid in the development and learning of toddlers. Children learn about sequencing (what comes first, next, last), create vocabulary and concept understanding (for example, wet, slippery, drain), and develop independency through daily routines (for example, bath time) (getting their towel or cleaning up bath toys on their own)

2- Make contact with the teachers-

If your child’s preschool teachers are available, setting aside some time to meet with them and share activity recommendations may be helpful. In Junior DPS, for the fulfilment of this purpose, various parents’ teacher meetings are organized from time to time so that contact should be well maintained between both of the pillars because it is ultimately beneficial for the independency of the toddler.

In these meetings, suggestions are given and taken from both sides.

3-Speak with your toddler. –

Interactions set an essential base for the independency of a toddler. Almost every activity that a child participates in gives a chance to discuss it, which allows you to introduce new terminology as well as shapes, colours, sizes, and numbers.

4- Unstructured play should be encouraged

Independent play is critical for developing creativity, problem-solving skills, and independence. Allow your toddler to create their project or play by providing them with a range of art supplies (crayons, markers, chalk, finger paints), construction tools (blocks, Magna-Tiles, Legos), or imaginary play items. If they run out of ideas or resources, provide new material and see if they can change to a new manner of playing on their own.

5- Performing Household Tasks-

Your kid should be able to undertake age-appropriate home activities, such as cleaning floors and washing dishes, depending on how dependable and attentive they are. Even young children may assist in setting the table and cleaning their rooms. Chores instil a sense of responsibility in children and can increase their self-esteem as they observe how their efforts benefit their families.

Final thoughts

Developing independence in a toddler may be difficult for any parent. Because of your toddler’s determination, you may have to take more time to explain chores that seem so simple to you.

You may even be concerned that he would injure himself in his search for independence.

An independent toddler is a clear, if sometimes painful, indicator that your child is maturing. Many of us find it difficult to let go and accept that there is no going back to the newborn and early toddler years.

So, we can conclude that independence is the need of the hour in this new era, but it should be given with some precautions.
