Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited conducts an exhibition to remember the partition times on Partition Horrors Remembrance Day

The partition of India in its most basic form is a story of unprecedented human displacement and forced migration. It is a story in which millions sought new homes in environments that were alien and resistive. More than a story of a violent divide based on faith and religion, it is also a story of how a way of life and ages of co-existence came to a sudden and dramatic end.

To bring to light and remember the pain and agony of millions of people who were the sufferers of partition, the Hon’ble Prime Minister, during his speech from Red Fort on 15th August 2021, declared 14th August to be observed as Partition Horror Remembrance Day.

On this year of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, when we celebrate the 75th year of Independence, the Indian Council of Historical Research and Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts have curated an exhibition to showcase the sufferings of partition.

This exhibition, amongst other platforms, is also being displayed at 188 outlets of Hindustan Petroleum Corp Ltd.

As part of this, Sh Satish Upadhyay, Vice Chairman of New Delhi Municipal Council, inaugurated the Partition Horror Remembrance Day exhibition in Delhi at Auto Care Centre, Niti Marg, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi, on 10th August 2022. Padma Shri award recipient Sh. Jitender Singh Shunty inaugurated the exhibition at Victory service station Shahdara, and Padma Shri award recipient and the famous cardiologist Dr Upendra Kaul inaugurated the exhibition at Hemkunt Service Station, Jangpura.

While speaking on occasion, all dignitaries remembered the horrors of partition and complimented HPCL and MoPNG for showcasing the horrors of partition.

The exhibition is open to all.”
